I have installed ubuntu on around 6 different setups, ranging from old laptops to brand new desktops. Been installing and using ubuntu since around 6.04, and the only machine that had issues was a laptop with SLI, that with later versions of ubuntu, intalls just fine. For super easy proprietary graphics installs, use sudo ap-get install envyng-gtk to install envy. Then just run envyng -t in the terminal... pick your driver, install and its happy. I guess that it goes along with Ubuntu's mythical support for video hardware. (I've _never_ had an Ubuntu install correctly for _any_ video hardware and have _always_ had to tweak X.org. I've _seldom_ had this same problem with Debian, Suse, Fedora, or Red Hat.) So now Ubuntu is naming itself after mythical creatures?
