Lively from Google – future of social networks

By Detector | 09 July 2008

Tuesday Google launched a new social virtual world called Lively as a way to make more dynamic social web.

Lively is chat room with 3D camera controls, something like very popular Second Life. You can enter in various chat rooms from your browser, create avatars and rooms and modify environment, add furniture to the rooms etc. Lively rooms can display Youtube videos on virtual TV’s and display picasa photos in virtual picture frames. They can also display Google gadgets or play music uploaded from the user’s computer. Also you can attach your rooms to your website and invite your friends to chat or decorate your room.

Lively is easier to use than Second Life, but it lacks the latter’s programmability. But, if you like chating and emoting online via a 3D avatar, Lively is a real choice for you!
