Yahoo recommends Firefox 3

By Detector | 04 September 2008

The cold war is still running. Yahoo dislikes Microsoft and Microsoft still tries to tip upon Yahoo to acquire it. Yahoo, as one of the biggest search portal, on its home page, on the top spot recommends upgrading to Firefox: “Yahoo recommends upgrading to the NEW safer, faster Firefox 3.”

Maybe this is just business and money but this look like a direct attack on Microsoft, which it probably is. Maybe it’s not anything against Microsoft as a company. Maybe it’s just against IE as a browser.

But, when you download Firefox from Yahoo, it downloads the “yahoo edition”. This means that the search engine is set to yahoo by default, increasing search on yahoo and in turn increasing clicks on ads in their search results page. As I say maybe this is just business and money.

Yahoo still offers its version of Internet Explorer on its download page.

Personally, I don’t see a problem with Yahoo recommendations.
