Seagate will enter in SSD market

According to Cnet, Seagate intend to produce SSD in 2009. Seagate says that first they will make standards for quality measurement, then, convince people that SSD is safe technology and the data will lasting long enough so the customers can know what kind of SSD disks they buy. Seagate is optimistic, and when the standard is implemented the company slowly will transfer the production process towards SSD technology.

Before they start to sell SSD disks for end users, they plan to supply corporations only. The competition does not scare the Seagate, they says that they have years of experience and know how in hard disk production so they will handle the competition quite well.

“While for some companies, it’s a new market and a new product, for us, it’s an existing market, new product,” – Rich Vignes, senior manager of market development in Seagate said.
