ASRock and Instant Boot

By Detector | 13 November 2008

Windows installation on your computer can boot slowly or faster, depending of your system hardware and last period of your windows installation, but it will never be instantly. Asus cheap hardware producer ASRock has solution for that problem and they call it Instant Boot. The technology can be upgraded to 5 of their motherboards based on Intel P45 and P43 chipset and AMD 780G and 790GX chipset if you download and install new BIOS from here.

Instant Boot is using functions S3 and S4 ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) that is used also by Sleep/Standby and Hibernation mode under Windows.

ASRock has found way to use both shutdown procedures of Windows, accelerating the S3 and S4 functions without data loss. With the new technology the boot time is 3-4 seconds in Fast mode, and 20-22 seconds in Regular mode. You can watch video presentation here.
