VIA and Openchrome development team become brothers in arms

By Detector | 22 November 2008

VIA technology continue with its open source initiation and open over 450 pages of its documentation. As you may know, VIA start partnership with Openchrome development team. There has been a lot of noise about VIA’s efforts to become a better open source citizen. The Openchrome development team has renewed its efforts to develop better relations with them. VIA give all access to documentation to Openchrome development team. That is just temporary solution while VIA works to improve the docs before they are released free of chains to the whole community. VIA released all VX800/820, CX700, VX700, etc docs on http://www.x.org/docs/via.

Openchrome is also involved in a discussion with VIA on how to get open source support for the 2D, 3D and video functions of the Chrome9 chipset IGP.

Does this partnership mean that we can expect quality 3D drivers for new technologies? Future will tell…
