How to remove margin border and select default document file format on OpenOffice.org Writer

By Detector | 22 December 2008

If you dislike the margin border on OpenOffice.org Writer, you can easily remove it. Go to: Tools → Options. In the options menu choose from left OpenOffice.org → Appearance and then deselect “text boundaries” option from right menu. That’s it, the margin border will be off.

If you like to change the default OpenOffice.org document file format, for example, to save document files with Microsoft Office format (.doc), go to Tools → Options → (from left menu choose) Load/Save → General.

Now, from right menu, at Default file format section → Always save as, choose Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP, or other default format according to your needs.

i have been trying to figure this out ever since i downloaded OO which was about 3 months ago. i wanted to change the margin size, and the border lines were in the way. this helps soooo much!
