Top 10 Firefox blogging add-ons

By Detector | 25 December 2008

Firefox add-onsFirefox is regarded as the best Web browser (for many people and for me also). One of the great things of Firefox is that there are hundreds of add-ons which modify or add to existing functionality on Firefox. From my research (forums, comments, posts, reviews) I made a list of ten most wanted add-ons used by bloggers community and web site editors. Here is the list, and, if you like – let me know your own favorite add-ons in the comments.

  1. ScribeFire Blog Editor – full featured blog editor that integrates with your browser and lets you easily post to your blog. Simply type some text in the main ScribeFire editor, give it a title, upload picture and click the Publish button. ScribeFire will post the entry to your blog, and it will appear in the list of entries in the right sidebar so that you can edit or delete it later if you want. Also there are many advanced features, read more here. Definitely DetectorPRO recommended.
  2. Live PageRank – Tiny little indicator displaying Google PageRank on the right corner of Firefox window. Need something else?? No that’s more than enough.
  3. StumbleUpon – StumbleUpon lets you surf thru the best-reviewed sites on the web. It is a surfing tool for browsing, reviewing and sharing great sites with like-minded people. This helps you find interesting webpages you wouldn’t think to search for.
  4. Clipmarks – With Clipmarks, you can clip the best parts of web pages. Whether it’s a paragraph, sentence, image or video, you can capture just the pieces you want without having to bookmark the entire page.
  5. Sage – Sage is a lightweight RSS and Atom feed aggregator extension for Mozilla Firefox. It’s got a lot of what you need and not much of what you don’t.
  6. Jeteye – Jeteye is a unique Web-based application and service that is designed for the next generation of enterprise and consumer use of the Web. Jeteye changes how we interact with the web, in an era where communication and social computing are more powerful than ever.
  7. TorrentBar – BitTorrent File Search Toolbar for Firefox. Allows to search numerous sites in a matter of minutes for needed torrent files.
  8. Wizz RSS News Reader – A fairly good RSS and Atom news reader.
  9. MeasureIt – Draw out a ruler to get the pixel width and height of any elements on a webpage.
  10. Show MyIP – Displays your current IP address. If you have a static IP (Internet Protocol) address, this number will stay the same each time you visit. If you have a dynamic IP, the number will change each time you log on to the internet (or your ISP assigns a new IP).
