Windows tip: How to disable explorer thumbnail view

By Detector | 22 December 2008

With disabling Thumbnail View you will spare a small, but significant part of your disc space because thumb.db file will not be created in every folder where pictures and videos are stored.

If you want disable the Explorer’s ability to show the Thumbnail View here is the steps:

  1. Start Regedit
  2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced \
  3. Change ClassicViewState to 1
