How to add Adsense for feeds to your FeedBurner feed

If you have FeedBurner feed for your site and also you have Adsense account you can try set up Adsense for Feeds to your FeedBurner account and get some extra revenue. People who switched from FeedBurner feed to Google feed probably told you some horrible story about losing RSS readers at the moment of feed migration because the process of migration has some bugs. But this is just scary story. I have simple solution of how to add Adsense for feeds to your FeedBurner feed without any damage. To do that you must first setup Adsense for feed and second – redirect your FeedBurner to Adsense for feed. Here are the detailed steps:

Set Up Your AdSense for Feed

Log into your AdSense account and set up AdSense for Feed:

  1. Click on AdSense Setup
  2. Click on AdSense for Feeds
  3. Click on burn a new feed.
  4. On the pop-up box.
  5. Enter your non-FeedBurner feed address — i.e., http://www.detector-pro.com/feed

  6. Click on Next and another pop-up box will be opened

  7. Click on Next
  8. Click on Close

Now you are back on the main set up screen again.

  1. Click on Create new channel
  2. Enter a name — i.e., DetectorPro. You can make your feed targetable if you want.
  3. Click on Add
  4. Set up your ad placement and configuration
  5. Copy your AdSense for Feeds feed address – ex., http://feedproxy.google.com/DetectorPro
  6. Click on Save

You are done on AdSense side.

Redirect Your FeedBurner Feed To AdSense Feed

Now log in to your FeedBurner account.

  1. Click on your feed — ex.: DetectorPro
  2. Click on Edit Feed Details…
  3. Change your original feed — ex., http://www.detector-pro.com/feed to AdSense Feed — i.e., http://feedproxy.google.com/DetectorPro
  4. Click on Save Feed Details button

You’re done. The changes will be visible after short time. Anyway, you can immediately see impressions in your Adsense report.
