Nvidia aggressively on the netbook and nettop market

Nvidia with the new ION platform decided to take a big piece of netbook and nettop market from Intel. If Intel sleeps with development of chipset and graphics, nVidia is ready and already developing ION version for VIA Nano processors for new laptop and nettop models.

The new design would give netbook and nettop manufacturers option of a non-Intel design that has 5x faster graphics and more energy efficient GeForce 9400M chipset. The companies had already demonstrated an early example of the platform in last year Computex and production version will come later this year.

This move and earlier Apple strategies to use nVidia GeForce 9400M chipset in all new Mac’s disturbed Intel and recently Intel has dragged Nvidia to court to set the all differences for feature chipset production. As alleged in court, Intel told Nvidia to stop claiming the right to produce chipsets that would work on Intel’s next generation processors.

With new ION-VIA platform, nVIDIA will have independent alternative and now will push Intel to accept Ion in order to maintain Atom processor sales.
