Google Summer of Code 2009

Google will hold again their Google Summer of Code event this year. The event is originally launched in 2005 and is a contest for university students sponsorship that write and develop code for various open source projects.

The companies can apply to be mentors to help the students with their tasks during the event. On March 18th Google will announce the list of accepted mentor companies After that Google will begin taking student applications for this years event.

Last year it sponsored 1,125 students, of which 83% successfully completed their projects. This year Google will be funding approximately 1,000 students.
