Facebook upgrade their servers

Recently, Facebook social network announced more than a 300 million users, while new trends show no decrease in popularity in the coming months. However, very small percent of facebook users thinks about the logistics that stays behind Facebook network so the whole system can work without problems.

The last official outdated data of Facebook servers comes from April 2008 and it counts about 10.000 servers, and today info counts about 30.000 servers serving the social community. The servers for 300 million users are maintained by 230 engineers and they consumed almost $20 million US dollars per year.

Rothschild has also published a few interesting statistics: Currently Facebook stores totally 80 billion photos (20 billion different, each in four sizes), while the servers every second serve approximately 600.000. In every month there are showing around 200 billion pages and only logging size is 25 terabytes of data – per day. Interesting??
