Windows 8 in 128–bit variant in 2012?

Microsoft eagerly awaited starting sale of Windows 7 in 22nd October, and initially (like Vista) in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. At the same time, 64-bit version take more and more users from the “ordinary” users, so Microsoft is preparing a new revolution for future versions.

According to unofficial information, the new windows name will be Windows 8 and Windows 9 in 128-bit variant, which is necessary and appropriate hardware. Information are coming from the LinkedIn profile Robert Morgan, long-term employee in Microsoft research and development department. The description stated “Development of 128-bit compatibility for Windows 8 and Windows 9 center, in collaboration with Intel, AMD, HP and IBM”. Morgan pointed out that they are developing a binary instruction set compatibility IA-128 with the existing IA-64, while the simulations are already in progress.

Whatever the case, Windows 8 should bring important changes compared to previous systems. It is mentioned a new algorithms and API functions for hibernation, support for clusters, better support for the SSD’s and a lot of other features. Of course, all this information has not officially confirmed.

Windows 8 will be released on the market probably in the year 2012.
