BREIN in the last two years (temporarily) shut down over 1,000 torrent pages, and now they join forces with MPAA for better privacy protection.

Last week they announce that have great success week against piracy and torrents. Specifically, they successfully turn off 12 pages for torrent sharing and download but the services are not published so we don’t know exactly which pages are turned off.

The “execution” was perform mostly from U.S. MPAA, and Dutch BREIN, both known association’s for copyright protection. Supposedly, the purpose of executing the last 12 torrent pages was sending warnings to the torrent community. The pages are turned off after complaining to the torrent hosting providers, basically torrent sharing is against terms of use of hosting providers.

However, this time there were extinguished less popular torrent sites, and BREIN confirmed that the organization aims to the “small fish” also, but the names are kept confidential. New torrent pages appear very quickly, but they cannot rise in larger community because they are extinguished very quickly.
