By Detector | 23 March 2011

Firefox 4 is released, it’s more than a 6x times faster from the older version, has a complete UI overhaul, new features, improve stability and many more. Read more about Firefox 4 features here. Windows user can update it immediately from older Firefox browser /help/check for updates or download the new version from official Firefox site. Ubuntu users can install the stable version after adding repositories to the system, and here is how to do that:

First open you terminal and copy / paste to the terminal the the following steps (Ctrl+Shift+V – to paste in terminal or right click on your mouse/paste). If you ever install the development version of Firefox 4, start from the step 1. Otherwise, you can start from step 2.

1. If you use the development version you need to uninstall or remove it first.

sudo apt-get remove firefox-4.0

2. Add the Firefox stable PPA.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable

3. Now update the software list and install Firefox

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install firefox

After installation, you will find Firefox under Applications -> Internet -> Firefox Web Browser.
Enjoy in more faster Firefox experience. Our team is using Firefox and Thunderbird a lot, so we expect a new Thunderbird version soon, based on new faster Firefox engine. Good work Mozilla, you are still the best.
